Best for International Students...

I am from South-Asia (Pakistan). I belong to a low-income family, can anyone suggest universities which offer need-based financial aid to international students. I want to pursue an Engineering degree so plz suggest tose universities which offer engineering esp. Electrical and Mechanical.

I am a High-school Senior student....i'll be graduating in August-2008....I'm in the Final year of my Cambridge GCE A Level....

My SAT Reasoning Score: 760M/770W/710R Total: 2240/2400
Sat Subject Test Scores: 790Maths2/790Phy./790Chem. Total: 2370/2400

Plz suggest universities according to my scores, though Financial Aid is my main requirement!!....

my friend got a similar score and got into colleges like vassar, grinnell, harvey mudd and colgate. As far as universities are concerned, i don't know of many of them which give a heavy need based aid to internationals apart from the ones in the top 25(US NEWS RANKINGS)

but i guess these colleges are not that renowned for engineering

are you kidding? harvey mudd is one of the best in the field! if you need full ride try olin and cooper union.

@everybody on this thread, as you guys make suggestions, you may want to remember that most schools give way, way less aid to internationals than to US students. For instance, here's what the Harvey Mudd website says about internationals and fin aid:

"Is financial aid available to international students?
Students who aren't U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents are ineligible for federal financial support. HMC does offer a very small number of scholarships for international students, which tend to be awarded to entering freshmen. Competition for these awards is very high."

@OP: I'm cutting and pasting from one of my own earlier posts about int'l students and financial aid:

Peterson offers a scholarship search engine for international students that I would definitely check out if I were you. It's at

EducationUSA - US Department of State

Because you are an international student, much of the aid you can get will be either a) loans or b) merit-based. You may want to consider applying for all the scholarships you can think of in order to play the odds a little bit.

The second link gives a list of U.S. schools with a history of making fin aid awards to international students.

If I were you, I'd broaden my search to include merit-based aid.
