Best for pre med

Rank these schools from best to worst: Irvine, Davis, SD, SB, LA

La

Sd

Irvine

Davis
5.sb

^ I agree, LA would be the best

Do you really think Irvine has that much more to offer me than SB?

i think SB would be a better overall school considering academics, social life, and location. Irvine is...well...a communter school.

You people underestimate the two strongest science programs in the UC's...
1) SD
2) Irvine
3) LA
4) SB
5) Davis

I'm guessing your entering freshmen?

Whoa. LA 3rd? (I have no knowledge of the UCs - I'm just surprised.)

The basic fact is that if you do well in any of those schools (and by well I mean >3.8), you will get into an excellent medical school. Of course you also need to have great MCAT scores and extracurriculars. If you study and take school seriously at any of those UC's you should also do fine on the MCAT.

A lot of people think UCLA is a great school and it has a great overall reputation, but when you focus on their science programs, they do not own up to UCI or UCSD. I know I'm going to get criticized for saying this, but this is what I think and every other person who doesn't go to UCLA. I was about to go to UCLA but I decided not to just because UCSD has a stronger science program and more research opportunities. Nevertheless, UCLA is an awesome school and you could easily get into medical school if you do well at UCLA.

My point being, go where you want to!! I know a lot of people hear this all the time but it IS the truth. If you do well wherever you go, you will have a great chance at making it to medical school. The hard part is doing well.
