Best Freshman Housing

I’m an entering Freshman, and I am torn between West and Warren. People say Warren is hell, but it is the best place to meet people Freshman year. Is West that same idea as Warren or is it less social? I guess I’m asking overall which is better and why.

Thanks!

Both dorms are far away from each other, so think about what classes you want to be close to.

Who would say Warren is hell? Its the most fun you will have throughout all four years of college. Both are very social. You can essentially take them both as equals. Decide based on location if these are the two dorms you are torn between. If you are CAS, SMG, ENG, or something down east, go for Warren. Rooms aren't too big, but if you keep it clean, its not a problem at all.

Yeah, Devil's got the right idea. You don't want to get up earlier than you have to...especially after particular nights . Both dorm's are social enough so that you'll meet people. However, West Campus is closer to the gym, the College of General Studies, and tends to have a lot more of a social scene because there are more kids in West who don't have as much of a workload as kids in Warren ( primarily because College of General Studies students tend not to have as much work as ENG, SMED, or SMG students).

Warren on the other hand is close to almost all of the classrooms that BU students use, whether you're in SMG, CAS, ENG or whatever. People still know how to have fun in Warren, but it tends to be less of a party scene than West and nobody can dare disagree with me on that matter.

I'm told that Warren is more social in general because it has more freshman whereas West is more of a mix of freshman and sophomore students...

Both are very social. You can't really put one over the other. Yes, from what I hear, West can get a bit louder and wilder due to the lighter workload of the CGS students. Personally, assuming you have classes on the east side of campus, I would give Warren a try. For freshman year, it is the best. Obviously, I would recommend moving into a quieter and more study-oriented dorm the year after, but it is a great place to start at BU.

I will be a freshman in Fall 2008 and chose Warren so I could meet others (in addition to preferring the location overall and being used to cold winter weather whereas walking wouldn't be a problem); I'm told West is practically all CGS and CFA.

they both are very social, but warren is more convenient for most classes. it really doesn't matter which one you get put in.
