Best Grad School for Fine Arts/Painting

I'm asking for someone else, who is finishing up a BFA in drawing and painting and would apply to grad school either Fall 2006 or Fall 2007 for the following year in an MFA program. The career goal would be painter and college professor. Looking for the very top schools in the U.S. in that field, according to rank. Can someone give me a list of schools in rank order to pass along?

columbia........ those mfa graduates are sought out by nyc galleries.

those rankings were collected/compiled in 2003, not 2006. There are no rankings from US News on Art schools post 2003, they simply list the old data under the heading of 2006.

That is helpful, thank you. It also doesn't break down the Fine Arts by type. That could include painting, sculpture and other fine arts. This may be a situation where the student would have to contact the schools directly for more information. There doesn't seem to be as much available on the internet for particular graduate programs as for undergrad.

Frankly, unless I were interested in teaching painting in college, I might consider the Art Renewal Center. check out their url:http://www.artrenewal.org/

They teach the old way: they use masters to teach to paint like the old masters with incredibly detailed work. However, you need a LOT of inate talent and ability to learn from others to benefit from them. They are also not an accredited college.
