Does any recommend one GRE book over the others? Just starting the prep process...
Thanks!

I just picked up “Kaplan 2013 GRE® Premier: with 5 Online Practice Tests + DVD [Paperback]” and “The Official Guide to the GRE Revised General Test, 2nd Edition [Paperback]” last week. I plan on starting to study next week so I can’t really recommend them just yet. But I figured Kaplan and ETS (the makers of the GRE) were a good place to start. I plan on picking up some 2014 prep books during my winter break. Most likely by ETS and another prep company. I’m also considering signing up for magoosh if I feel like it’s necessary.

Just curious, what year are you in and what’s your major? I’m heading into my junior year but I kind of feel like I’m studying too early. I plan on taking the exam next spring and I’d rather not have to study so hard while taking classes as a biochem major so I thought it’d be smart learn the GRE now (tricks, strategies, material etc.), and do a bunch of practice tests before I take the real thing.

Thanks! It’s for my D - she’s a senior and deciding what to do the year after graduation. She’s going abroad her last semester so she may take a semester off to do grad school apps after that… Yes, you may be a bit early to study but it certainly can’t hurt to take a good look at the test lay-out and get some idea of material covered. Then you can be amassing knowledge all next year… Good luck!

D used ETS book. Signing up on line with GRE people also gives you access to a couple of on-line practice test (without writing). D found them very helpful. Took one to evaluate where she was, then did test practice books and another practice test and took test in March and exceeded what she needed for her program. You can also gets some apps for smart phones to do vocabulary which is a no-brainer way to start studying, even if test is down the road a bit.
