Best Guide to learn Physics?

I'm a pre-med student who is going to be taking Physics next semester. What is the best MCAT guide to buy that can explain Physics well to get me accustomed to my physics class? I also will end up needing it for the MCAT review.

I've heard ExamCrackers is good...?

Examkrackers is a very good set of books, (the best in my opinion)
But, the physics was not as good.

I recommend the NOVA MCAT Physics book only because it has had the best response, online, and from other students I know.

Other opinions will help...

I agree with the above post completely. I loved the ExamKrackers books in general. Their physics book was not so good (to the point that I just stopped reading it). I got the NOVA MCAT physics book, and it was much, much better.

That said, an MCAT physics book (whichever one you end up getting) is probably not going to be a whole lot of help in your physics class. Physics on the MCAT is notable for being much, much less in-depth than the classes you have to take to meet your pre-med requirements. The best advice that I can give for help with the class is to see if there are study guides available to go along with your physics text. Those were what helped me most in my physics classes.

Although I haven't taken the MCAT yet, I agree with ginnyvere on the last few points...

why would you buy an MCAT physics book for your general physics course? I've only glanced through MCAT prep books, but I can definitely say that they wouldn't help me at all with my class (I'm in gen physics II w/calc right now).

I like my ExamCrackers with milk.

I don't know why I wanted an MCAT review book, actually. Any recommendations for a general physics book that can just get me familiarized with what is covered in an intro physics class?

by the way I need to learn cal-based, not trig

Did you take physics in HS?

Nope-have never taken a Physics course! This is why I want to prep a little before fall semester.

Gosh....you might end up hating it (just a heads up)..

I can't stand physics... without a doubt the worst class I've taken so far. Simply because I hate the material. I cannot wait to be done with it.

^^ Yeah, seriously. My friends and I wanted to throw a done-with-physics party after we were done, but alas, we still had other finals to worry about.
