Next year I would like to apply to a business school at a large university.
I am planning to take AP Multivariable Calculus and AP Statistics. I have already taken AP Econ.
I have also taken Personal Finance.
Are there any other high school courses that you think prepare someone for a degree in business or further one’s application?
Is it okay if I do not take a science course next year?
Business major degree programs usually do not need multivariable calculus (which would not be an AP course). However, it may be useful if you want to go into quantitative finance, actuarial science, operations research, industrial engineering, or some such.
As far as science goes, have you taken all three of biology, chemistry, and physics?
In general, the usual well rounded high school college prep base curriculum, plus electives of your interest, should be fine for preparing to major in business in college.
I have finished honors courses in biology, chemistry, and physics.
.
Be able to write well, so honors English (at least)
I would consider Psychology…much of marketing or managing people deals with psychology
Look at your potential colleges and see if they require 4 years of science.
If you are applying to top business programs like UPenn Wharton, they will want the most rigorous classes, so 4 years of a language and 4 years of science would be preferred. Best to read up on each college to see what they courses they expect from top applicants.
