Best Honors Programs

What are the best honors programs out there?

just search the board....im sure there was a thread with the exact same topic a while ago...

I actually did that before the post. There really isn't any thread that speaks to the strengths of various honors programs or ranks them. For example, what are the ten highest ranked honors programs nationally?

I don't know that there is a rank, but I know that the honors program in the Penn State system is supposed to be really prestigious.

I've also heard many good things about Michigan State and ASU, on a slightly less selective note.

I've heard great things about the Cook Honors College at IUP.

This is an interesing topic. I've not given it any thought as I don't think there are Honors Colleges within the nine University of California system (Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UCSB, UCD, UCSC, UCR, UCM).

In CA, the legislature has split the University system into two parts: UC for top 12.5% of graduating class, and the 23 campus (mostly commuter) Cal State system (San Diego, Long Beach, Northridge, Fullerton, LA, Dominguez, Sonoma, etc) for the 13% - 40% group of graduates. Below that is the 2 yr. City College system (Santa Monica, El Camino, etc. for LA area).

I'm wondering if the quality of the Honors programs at other State Universities is higher than the general programs at Berkeley, UCLA, UC San Diego, which are the highest ranked and most selective of the UC campuses. My initial read is that those three campuses are enrolling an entire campus of students who are de facto Honors. I say this because those three enroll effectively the top 25% of the UC bound students of the top 12.5% from the state, which would make all the students from those three campuses the approx top 4% from the state.
