I will be taking s to the preview on 2/20. I've never been to FSU and would like a recommendation for a decent, close hotel.

Thanks

These are decent hotels: http://www.cob.fsu.edu/dsh/Career_Fair_2007_Tallahassee_Accommodations.pdf

Thanks. Do you have personal experience with any? Was hoping to get recommendations.

Convenience to the schools... Decent area... Nice hotel... etc.

OK my ultimate favorite is the Marriott Residence Inn. You can walk to campus. It is new. It fills up fast, and getting a room when anything is "going on" is impossible. When it first opened up they were selling rooms on Priceline for $50. Not any more. Free breakfast for all. Mini kitchen. I like that it is close.

My next favorite is the Staybridge Suites at I-10 and Hwy 90 (Mahan). New, nice, and a room with a small kitchen itsabout the same price as just a room. Its is alot like the Marriott above. It is a little distance from campus. But it is very serene in location. You can sit out on their back patio area where there are takles and chairs, and BBQ grills, and look onto a peaceful lake. But its not as convienent. Free breakfast for all.

On Apalachee there are many decent hotels. They are pretty close to the University, but not within walking distance. The Hilton Garden Inn is new and nice. The Comfort Suites/Inn is OK, as is the Courtyard by Marriott less than a block away from the Comfort. The Homewood Suites (by Hilton) is nice and you have a mini kitchen. It is a little further down on Alapachee and might be a little pricier. Homewood gives you breakfast, as does Comfort. You pay more for a room with breakfast at Hilton and Courtyard.

DO NOT STAY AT THE HOLIDAY INN ON APALACHEE. We made a quick trip up for something, I got a $50 price on priceline, and IT WAS BAD. The room smelled musty and it was not even worth the $50.

I have stayed in all of the above hotels. I have not stayed at the Doubletree Hotel, but it gets good reviews and is also in walking distance.

There are several hotels on Tennesee near the Univeristy. They look old and dated. None look like I wanna stay there. But that might be a location for the very tight budget minded.

Thanks. Made reservations at the "Residence Inn Tallahassee Universities at the Capitol."

They have cute rooms in my opinion. I like the beds. The hair dryer is not mounted on the wall in the vanity area and so remember to look for it underneath in the cabinet if u need one. It''s black and often in the back. I called once insisting that it was missing, and it was there :(. But they were nice about it. Parking sometimes can be tight if you arrive back to the hotel late. And if you don't want to walk to campus, its a short drive.

Hair Dryer will not be an issue. I dry my hair with the palm of my hand! :)

We stayed at the Doubletree Hotel when we took a campus tour. They upgraded our room for free...the room we stayed in was pretty nice. It is a short drive away from the campus.

The best part is that we got yummy cookies. :)

We just returned home today (College of Music auditions were yesterday) and we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Tallahassee Central (Blair Stone Rd just off Apalachee) and it couldn't have been nicer. It was close enough but next time we're gonna stay at the new Residence Inn that's w/in walking distance.

We stayed at the Residence Inn a year ago and it was very nice. My only objection was that you had to go the front desk for ice. At the time, they kept it in a cooler under the desk and it was starting to melt. Later that day I went to get some out of the freezer and it was frozen into a solid block. Besides that, everything else was great including the free full breakfast (seating was packed, and we crowded 5 around a table for two).

We've also stayed at TownePlace Suites on Capital Circle and the Fairfield Inn on North Monroe. Both are Marriott Hotels and are also nice places to stay. TownPlace has both efficiencies and one bedroom units with full kitchens. The Fairfield offers a free light breakfast (waffles, cereal, bagles, etc). We sort of like the Fairfield best because of the free breakfast and the Taco Bell right next door.

as an oos parent have spent quite a bit of time at hotels in tallahassee. i would say our most pleasant stay was at the residence inn. the reason why is the breakfast is a wonderful social hour. it is so easy to meet other parents and students. we are from ny and we actually met two families with kids my son had a connection to..(small world :0) --for cc parents who like to share and give info this is the hotel to be at..i think this opp alone makes it the best choice. the staff has always been welcoming. location is close to campus.short drive to DT.

the doubletree has a great location for first time visitors who want to get to know the downtown. they also have a lovely restaurant with wonderful staff. however the hotel facilities do not live up to the perception or marketing. this hotel is not first class although the price and ads make it seem like it is. we actually had to go to desk in person at midnight after calling three times before they finally called the the police to stop a domestic disturbance (very violent scary) in the room next door. the policeman who came into our room to listen-investigate was very professional (nod to the TPD). the facilities are fine but again old tv's with sound issues, loud leaky ice machine , one floor allows smoking and when the elevator opens it is disgusting.. again i liked the location the first time i stayed. nice to get to now the DT. some lovely palces to eat..i just feel the mngmt oversells and doesnt live up to what they market

Just returned from a two night stay. We took our small dog this trip and stayed in a different hotel then our previous visits. We stayed at the Quality Inn on Monroe at I-10. With AAA discounts the room was only $48 a night. The room was clean and smelled of disinfectant (a smell my husband didn't like, but I found comforting...at least the staff used a cleaning agent. LOL). I'm always worried about finding a dog smell in hotels that allow pets, but was pleasantly surprised that this was not the case. The hotel is old and it shows....chipped tub, extension cords, door frames need painting, but the beds and towels were clean and fresh.

The staff was very nice. They offer a free continental breakfast including waffles, bagels, doughnuts, coffee cake, hard boiled eggs, cereal, oatmeal, apples, oranges, orange juice, coffee, hot chocolate and assorted hot teas. The lady taking care of the breakfast area couldn't have been nicer.

Forgot to mention...we took our dog to The Animal Hospital at Southwood for doggy daycare on Wednesday. The place is great and the little individual rooms are were very cute.
