Best Hotel to Stay In for a Visit?

if push comes to shove and your child has a single room…you could always sleep on the floor.

i do not recommend doing this though…talk about ruining his first night P:

LOL. When I went for a visit we stayed at a Fairfield Inn…in Corning…AND we used hotel points. My parents have been adamant about not paying for hotels @ college visits. We’ve been looking for Marriott properties within an hour of the campus that don’t take up a lot of our Rewards points. Being cheap rocks!

If it is Cornell Days you will need to book now. Everything nearby will fill up quickly.

The Statler is awesome. We normally stay at the Best Western. We have also stayed at the Ramada near Pyramid Mall (and the airport) which wasn’t bad.

If you go with a few family members and you need space, stay at the Homewood Suites. It was one of the nicest hotels I ever stayed in.

While you are looking for hotel rooms for orientation, make your reservations for your graduation too. Believe me, rooms are more difficult to find during commencement. When I brought my son for orientation four years ago, an experienced parent I met at the hotel recommended I make reservations for graduation. My hotel was already booked four years in advance! Some hotels will take your reservation and pre-payment (all hotels charge much higher rates during graduation). You can always cancel. Other hotels and Cornell dorms are available by lottery about 12-6 months before graduation. Plan ahead.
