So this school is likely where my S18 will end up. What are the best hotels for us to stay in for move in day?
The Country Inn & Suites at the airport is nice, and not too far from campus. Breakfast is great!
When we went to visit, we stayed at the Hyatt Place, which was north of downtown. Sleeps 4 - 5 nicely as they have 2 queen beds and a sofa bed in each room so we can spread out. There was a nice little downtown/shopping/eating area there as well in North Hills.
You have lots of good options. Closest to campus are the Double Tree and Aloft, but you don’t really need to stay that close. Cary has some good options. There are several hotels in the Crossroads shopping area, so you are close to restaurants and shopping. (Near the intersection of 40/440/64 - Walnut & Dillard Drive.) There are also some nice hotels just SW of this area, near the intersections of Hwys 64 & 1 & Tryon Road. Again, there are some good restaurants and shopping in that area. You can easily reach campus within 10 - 15 minutes or so without even taking the highway if you want. (Tryon Rd. to Avent Ferry or Gorman, or Buck Jones or Jones Franklin to Western Blvd). There’s also a Hampton and a Wingate on Chapel Hill Rd. (Exit 290 off 40) which turns into Hillsborough Street (or easily get to Western Blvd), and a Hyatt Place one block off Chapel Hill Rd. at Nowell Rd. There are good restaurants in downtown Cary just west of those, and you are only 10 minutes (if that) from campus. You could stay in downtown Raleigh too if you want to deal with parking garages. Museums and lots of great restaurants are close by. The Crabtree Valley Mall area (Glenwood Ave/70) has several options too, but there’s more traffic there in my opinion.
The Stateview Hotel is newly opened on NCSU’s Centennial Campus. Run by Marriott, it’s part of their “Autograph Collection” portfolio of hotels. http://www.stateviewhotel.com/
@ReallyRaleigh thank you!
