Best housing for freshman?

I was just accepted and will be attending UGA in the fall. I need help with housing, as i have yet to go up there to check it out. Anyadvice? what are the living arangments like? is it only two to a room or are there suite options? thank you

Hey I signed up for Rutherford, O House, and Reed.
Go on this website to check out floor plans/cost/location:

Also, are you on the dawg house?

Hello puppy dawg
It really depends on what sort of freshman experience you’d like to have. If you want the typical, rah rah football/greek life type of thing, I’d tell you to go for one of the main 3 high rises (Russell, Creswell, or Brumby). They’re huge, and stuff is always going on at them. The downside is they’re not very quiet at all. They are all traditional, 2-to-a-room dorms. There is a fourth high rise dorm, Oglethorpe (o-house), which is suite style. It is also right next to a dining hall, which is cool.

Another option would be to live in one of the Hill community dorms. (Church, Boggs, Mell, Lipscomb, Hill) You might find a more diverse student body in these. They are also traditional style dorms, but they have sinks in them, and oh my god don’t underestimate how awesome that could be.

Reed Hall is also suite style, but it’s far away from pretty much everything besides the stadium so I really recommend against that.

You could potentially live in building 1516 in east campus which is traditional style with private bathrooms in each dorm, but there’s not many freshman over there, so I would avoid it if I were you.

If you’re an honors student, I highly recommend living in Myers. It’s in a wonderful location and you get to meet plenty of like-minded people.
I wouldn’t even bother putting Rutherford down as a choice. It’s full already, since it’s new and everyone wants to live there.

Hope this helps a little! Let me know if you have any questions!

Is Rutherford for freshman, upperclassmen, or both?
