My son just got accepted to the Engineering - he’ll be a computer science major. Where are most of the classes he’d take as a freshman in that major/college? Trying to figure out where it would be best to live, dorm-wise.
Also, if he’d get into Honors, it looks like their housing is across the river. How easy is it to get back and forth for classes if you live over there? (He’s not a biking kind of guy.)
My son has same major and lived in the Taylor House LLC in Frontier. He did enjoy his LLC. He had classes all over on both West Bank and East Bank. If not wanting to do a learning community, he recommended Middlebrook (where honors housing would be).
Middlebrook is a 15 minute walk from the East bank and there are U busses and light rail that you can pick up as well. During your first year, you might have classes on either side of the river. The advantage of Middlebrook is that it’s quiet. The disadvantage (to some) is that it’s the only dorm over there so not as “social” as, say, the superblock. We have friends whose kids have stayed in Middlebrook and really liked it but they were also in the honors program so chose the dorm for the honors community and the more quiet study space.
