Best housing option for architecture students?

Being a transfer student, I am probably not gonna get offered a dorm, so what's the best off-campus apartment for an architecture student? I visited Ann Arbor and absolutely loved the downtown while finding the north campus pretty dull in comparison. But sadly the architecture school is located there......so right now I don't know where I should live...north campus or central campus? It would be more convenient for me to live closer to my school but I would have to sacrifice the downtown busy scene....I've narrowed it down to The Courtyards(North) vs University Towers(Central), which is better??Zaragon/Landmark were AWESOME but they re way too expensive!! Or is there any better option?

The Courtyards are far nicer when comparing apartments. You actually would have an excellent shot at getting a dorm though, as they have switched the priority from people who have lived in housing the longest to people who have lived in housing for the shortest period of time. I would highly recommend dorms, especcially for a transfer student, and recommend picking from South Quad/West Quad/Couzens/Alice Lloyd for the best social experience. Dorms are an incredible way to meet people and would help with the transition into UM.

You spend only ~4 hours a day in classes, but the rest of your time at your dorm or walking around hanging out downtown, so there is no reason to live on north in my opinion. As an architecture student you’ll be spending significant time in labs too though so that’s something to keep in mind.

Also UTowers sucks, dirty apartments that are way too old.

Good luck!
