where is the best housing for freshmans? i hear northwest is the best but how do one get it? is it random or the first 500 people

Northwest and Towers are both great places to live. N.W has a better location than towers though. Housing is all dependent on a lottery freshman year.

Pray for Northwest, pray madly. I wish I was in NW.

what's so good about northwest? and how is shipee? if you're in the honors program, do you HAVE to dorm at shipee?

Northwest is new, and it's very very nice. I'm in North, which sucks hard compared to NW. I think West is even worse. Towers is alright, but it has a lot of upperclassmen too, which might make it a bit harder for freshmen.

Shippee is amazing, very nice big spacious rooms and your own bathroom. You don't have to be in Shippee, I know a few people who aren't and a couple who moved out. I think you'd have to be crazy to move out of Shippee, though it is on the very edge of campus and is a long walk from most other things (ie most of your classes, the union, the co-op, etc).

how do one get NW??????

The people who get into NW are those who turn in their housing applications (found on the reslife website) ASAP. This is also the case for honors housing. Only people who turn in their housing applications relatively quickly get the rooms with the private bathroom.

That is not entirely correct, my friend turned in her housing app. on May 25th, and was awarded the heinous hole known as North Campus. However my other friend applied on June 2nd and was awarded N.W. They were around the same time, so there is a bit of randomness to the housing part.

i dont get how they match roomates in the order that their applications were submitted. that means that your not match with a roomate with the large pool of students. darn.
