When searching for top Computer Science schools, there are lists and lists of the top 10/50/100 schools in the country. I've been trying to find the same sorts of lists for the top Information Assurance programs but I can't find anything. The tough thing about these programs is that since the field is so new, everyone has a different name for the program.

Anyway, I'm looking for the top IA programs in the country. I saw that CMU has a program and so does UIUC. However, sometimes a school that is #1 at one thing isn't so hot in the other category so I don't know if I can assume that these are the best programs in the country.

Does anyone know what schools have top-notch Information Assurance graduate programs?

I don’t think there is an actual raking for IA as you’ve said it’s a small and very new field.

I may be biased here as a InfoSec student at CMU but I would recommend you to consider one of the programs at CMU. Yes, there are two, one offered by Heinz which is more policy and management oriented and the other from INI which is more technical oriented.

Why CMU? One word: CERT … ok if you are into research then CyLab too. Both are on campus and nearly all of the security professors are CERT staff, most at senior level. Again if you are into research, CyLab is the largest university based cyber securty research center in the US. You ain’t going to find these resources anywhere else. Course selection is plentiful and if you wish, you can take any classes from the highest ranked CS school.

I am going to Southeast Missouri State University starting in the fall, majoring in Cybersecurity, and the curriculum looks very hands on and intriguing to me.
