Best iPhone service providers?

Does anyone know what service provider is best/most used at Stanford?

I'm looking into buying an iPhone (seems like it would be pretty handy) and I was wondering what the consensus is.

From what I have read online, it seems that most students use AT&T, and Sprint's 4G LTE (whatever that is) isn't available yet on Stanford's campus?

Thanks!

Most students use AT&T, as they have the best coverage on campus and usually have some sort of student discount going. I personally use an AT&T iPhone and it works well on campus.

Oh, before I forget. I’m sure someone else with more technical knowledge can explain better, but 4G LTE is the next generation of 3G for phones. Basically, this is what helps you get connected to the internet on your phone when you’re not on wifi. I personally don’t have Sprint (and my iPhone isn’t compatible with 4g LTE anyway) so I can’t speak to its availability on campus. I do find it a little odd if it isn’t available - most major metropolitan areas have 4G LTE by now, and I’d be shocked if an area in the middle of Silicon Valley did not.

Thanks very much! Did you get a student discount by getting an AT&T plan on campus?

You’re welcome! No, I had AT&T before attending but before NSO they offered a student discount (with .edu address) that I was able to apply to my plan. IIRC, Stanford sent out a packet with info about student discounts with Apple, AT&T, the bookstore, etc. Hope that helps!
