bern700 -- hi, I'm interested in applying to Wharton, but I have a few questions that I'm sure that you, as a student, would answer very well? I was curious as to how tough the Wharton curriculum is in terms of grading? Is getting A's impossible? Very hard? How bout compared to the college @ penn?

Well you've probably heard of the wharton curve which is pretty intense in some classes (finance, acct, etc.) However, not all classes are like this. Getting As is not impossible personally right now I have 3 As, 1 B+, and 1 B- (GPA:3.66). The average GPA at wharton is like 3.2/3.3 (B+) so that should give you a rough estimate as to how tough grading is. Compared to the college it various depending on the rigor of your curriculum. If you take all easy classes then you'll end up with a high GPA but if you take hard classes it is comparable to wharton or you could make it harder than wharton. It all depends on your classes.

Whats the acceptance rate at Wharton and is it much lower than regular Penn? Two kids from my school got in there: One was a total nerd with 1600 and a high GPA but the other one had like a 1300 and a low 80s average but I'm pretty sure he had connections because he was extremely jewish. I've heard Penn is much easier to get into than Wharton but I was surprised this other kid got in.

well i would like you guys to help me out with this "undergrad business program" thing ....like im confused ..first of all let me tell you that im an asian so i dont have any idea of Ivy league and all but im looking forward to studying in U.S ...i will be applying to Undergrad Business schools but after reading all your posts im confused about which university has an undergrad Business program and which does not ? because i've visited their web sites and all of these universities (Yale.Harvard,Stanford, wharton , U of Chicago and MIT (sloan))have undergrad business school confused so plz guyz help me out with all this thanks

Why havent you guys mentioned Haas school of business at Berkeley? It was ranked 3rd best undergrad business program in the nation, only Wharton and Sloan were ahead.

"I'm pretty sure he had connections because he was extremely jewish ..."

I would be really careful where you go with this one. A prejudicial attitude in one so young is hardly an attractive quality, and certainly not a quality that is going to buy you any credibility here on cc, at Wharton or in the vast majority of working environments.

I don't think the stereotype is funny or acceptable in any way. Laughing and encouraging such statements is just as worthy of condemnation as the statements themselves.

"Why havent you guys mentioned Haas school of business at Berkeley? It was ranked 3rd best undergrad business program in the nation, only Wharton and Sloan were ahead."

mat330ci... chicago, michigan, UVA, williams, gerogetown, maryland, NYU, and MIT are not ivys either and they have all been mentioned in this thread.

I think the original poster wanted to know the best programs that land people a job in business, not speciafically the best Business programs. Eiher way Wharton is probably the best.

Which lands more people on Wall Street, Columbia/harvard/Yale/princeton econ? Wouldn't it be Columbia as its in New York?

Sammy - all those schools, especially HYPW are top notch for a future career on wall street. All have the name recognition and power to get you an interview, from here it is entirely up to you.

Wharton will teach you the most about business, but Harvard has the most prestige and is probably the most valuable degree to have on the resume.

^Tupac, I remember one of your posts a while back asking ppl what your chances were at Harvard or Princeton. Which one did you decide to go with?
