I've lurked on the College Confidential forums for some time, and though I have seen numerous threads regarding the best undergraduate colleges for business or engineering, I have yet to encounter one concerning my chosen future field, journalism.

As a writer and aspiring journalist, I dream of attending a college with an excellent undergraduate journalism program. The problem is, I am not entirely certain which colleges have renouned programs. I have heard the schools at Columbia and UC Berkeley lauded to the highest degree; however, I realize these are grad school programs.

What are this country's best undergrad journalism schools? I do not qualify for serious financial aid and am not particularly concerned about potential colleges' proximity to home. As the general CC applicant (4.0 student, good test scores, some high school experience in the newspaper business), I wonder which institutions you'll recommend?

I would add that Syracuse is considered to be one of the best choices for journalism. Other schools with good journalism programs include the University of Arizona, Ithaca College, and Washington State University.
