Best LACs for Chemistry

What are some of the LACs that are known for having a very good chemistry/biochem department?

Princeton? :)

Harvey Mudd, Wabash, Reed, Carleton, Bowdoin, Grinnell, Haverford, Franklin and Marshall, College of Wooster, Bryn Mawr, Allegheny, Knox, Occidental, Bates, Juniata, Kalamazoo, Williams, Swarthmore, Oberlin, Andrews, Holy Cross, St. Olaf, Hendrix, Hope, Davidson, Ursinus, Kenyon, Macalester, Centre, Wellesley, Wheaton, Trinity U, Lawrence U, Colgate, Ripon, Drew, Willamette, Beloit, Augustana, Hiram, Lake Forest, Gustavus Adolphus, Rose-Hulman, Albion, Amherst, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Hamline, Bethel, Mount Holyoke, U Puget Sound

well, last time I checked Pton wasn't a LAC...but I suppose that's probably true ;}

Warbersrule, how did you come up with that list of colleges?

Careful analysis of each school's program. I looked at faculty size per number of chem majors, grad school placement, funding, facilities, percentage of full-time professors, undergrad research, course offerings, etc.

It took a lot of work! I'm done with biology, chemistry, physics, and math, I'm working on geology, and I haven't gotten to computer science.

Wow..That's a lot of work..Good Job with it too...Can you post the biology list..(if you don't mind) :)

Thanks!

Holy Cross has always been strong in the sciences and plans on building a new science building. Would suggest HC is better in science than both Lafayette ad Colgate. Give Colgate edge in political science.

Need to also look carefully at Hamilton's chemistry program. It's getting some national recognition.

colby, and if you look at the connecticut college chemistry site, you will see that there are quite a few recent alumni who are in fabulous chem phd programs

warblersrule86,
Would you please post your Geology list when you have it completed? My junior daughter would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks so much.

warblersrule86,

Have you only done LAC's or have you done state schools also?

Look at the program at Hamilton College. The school offers incredible placement for graduate schools, lots of research opportunities and an amazing new $50 million + science center. Oh and did i mention no distributional requirements?
