Best laptop for CCIS

I was just wondering what a good laptop would be for a computer science and biology major in Northeastern university’s CCIS.

Thanks.

Absolutely anything you want so long as it has enough RAM (I’d recommend at least 8GB). I personally think Windows makes your life harder and prefer anything that’s is/like UNIX (Linux / Mac), but Windows is making strides and Virtual Machines are usually the answer. In the end, pick the OS you’re most comfortable with.

Most people in the department have Mac’s (I do personally), but you don’t need to spend that much if you can’t / don’t want to.

If you’re in CS, I agree that you’ll very likely want to use Linux/Mac at some point because programming on Windows becomes a massive pain. But Windows is also fine to start out, and you can always dual boot Linux to learn it. (You’ll also find plenty of people willing and eager to help you install/figure out/convert to Linux.) A lot of people like Mac because it’s painless out of the box and easy for programming, but with the progress of Linux distros like Ubuntu, it’s become really easy to get up and running with Linux.
