I'd love some feedback on some of the lesser-known MT schools, as well as those that offer MT as a minor or concentration. I'm looking at the East coast, but I'm sure everyone would love to know about schools across the country, as well...

Thanks!

In my opinion, while the list of MT programs at the top of this forum is not a list of all the programs that exist (such a list can be found in the FAQ linked section to the "Big List"), there are many on that list at the top that are "lesser-known" and so there is a lot of information within each one's own subforum and that would be a good place to start, as well as each school's own theater website and then ask some specific questions based on what you have read.

There has been some discussion about TCU in Fort Worth, TX, before, but I thought I'd give them another mention.

They are doing eight shows next year, two of them musicals. There are many opportunities to do professional theater in the area, and TCU usually does at least one co-production with a pro theater. They also offer theater study abroad each summer in London. I am an alum, and the Theatre Dept chair is an former classmate, so I may be a bit biased. But my own daughter loved Dr. Parker so much when she auditioned (last year was the first year they held auditions for their BFA), she cried when she emailed him to tell him she was going to a New York school instead.

TCU has brand new dorms and facilities and offers a very nice college experience. It's a lovely campus in a nice area, and a size that offers a lot of personal attention. Here is a link to the theatre site-- I think some of the production photos are really gorgeous! I've been impressed by the productions I've seen. This program is one to watch, in my book.

Good luck to you!

It killed me too to turn TCU down but D just didn't want to be that far away from home. They recruited her from Illinois Theatre Fest so they are definitely scanning the country for talent. One thing to note is that acceptance to the school is separate than the program, so you can pass the audition and still not get in the program. On the positive side there are no cuts so once you're in you're in.
