Best Louisiana College

Hello CC, I reside in New Orleans, LA and would like your opinion on the best college in the state. This basis can be made on any factor you deem important.

P.S. My Stats
2.8 GPA
26 Act
Black Male
3 Year Varsity Basketball
4 Year Choir
1 Year Poetry Club
Major : Undecided

Anyone please?

Is a Louisian degree looked down upon?

Tulane is the only school with a national reputation in La.

Tulane - it and Loyola would be the only two selective colleges in the state.

Thanks for the replies, already accepted at Loyola but would it better to just attend cheaper LSU instead? Cost > Selectivity?

If you get good aid, Tulane is the better choice. :)

Tulane would probably be best but I doubt you could get in with a 2.8 GPA and a 26 ACT.

Xavier is a fine school as well. As far as LSU vs. Loyola, is all depends on what you can afford, and by that I mean comfortably, not scrimping by. They are polar opposites in terms of size and atmosphere. Personally I would FAR prefer Loyola (or Xavier), but it really depends on how much the whole sports scene means to you, and if you mind very large classes and the impersonal atmosphere of LSU. The budget cuts at LSU will also create unpleasant situations, most likely.

You shouldn’t be worrying about the best school in the state, but what is best for you given your stats. I tend to agree that is Loyola, but if you have not looked at Xavier maybe you should, if it isn’t too late.

If you like sports I would seriously look at LSU. Can your family afford Loyola?

Thanks for the replies!
