What would you say is the best major for a pre-med student that has the least number of required courses apart from the pre-med prerequisites (full year of biology, general/inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and physics, with full year of lab for each, also a semester of math; note that these are the required courses for most med schools, not recommended courses). By the end of this (sophomore) year I will have done full year of biology, general/inorganic chemistry and organic chemistry, also calc I and II here at MSU and in the Fall of 2013 I plan to transfer to University of Michigan's LSA. A friend of mine told me there is a new major that only consists of the four pre-requisites of med schools that I've listed plus an additional year of biology, could anyone tell me which major this is? If not, what is the major that contains all of the pre-requisites for medicine with the least amount of additional courses?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to take the bare minimum of med school pre-reqs, it's just that I haven't officially decided on a major as of yet (biochemistry is my current tentative one) and I am in need of one that would allow me to graduate on time. I will have done 60 credits by the end of this year, although 3 of my credits won't transfer. I'll be doing 2 labs at U of M over the summer (assuming I can enroll then) so that should get those out of the way, since I hate labs and balancing them with my regular course load during the semester.

Thanks and any suggestions would be appreciated.
