What is the best undergraduate degree for management, operations, or strategy consulting? Do Business students have a significant edge over, say, a Psychology major?

Probably something like industrial engineering or operations research. Econ and finance are probably next.

And yes, any major that has a reputation for being useless and easy will put you at a disadvantage.

I’ve heard that quite a few PoliSci/Government majors get into consulting. Is this true?

It really depends on what type of consulting you’re talking about

Consulting firms will hire any major. Furthermore, it is not at all expected that what you learn in class will be applicable to consulting.

Firms are looking for “good thinkers.”

for that reason, an engineering major with a 3.5 >> business major with a 3.6. (Good luck getting a 3.5 as an engineer, though)
