Best major for investment banking

What is the best major to get into investment banking? Can I just major in something unrelated like Chemistry and then get an MBA? Also if I get into a decent business school like UC Berkly or UCLA will I be recruited after College or have trouble finding a job?

Those are very different questios!
The best major for investment banking is probably math, followed by Economics with a lot of math.
However if you get into a “target” school such as Harvard, or Georgetown, or, to a lesser extent, Colgate or Berkeley Haas, you may be hired for IB regardless of major.

Yes you can major in anything, work for a few years, then get an MBA. (Note that accredited MBA programs required 2-3 years of professional experience. They’re professional programs.)

If you get into a top business school you will find a job, provided you have a good GPA (3.0 is the minimum), internships, and good recommendations. To get good recommendations, you need to get to know your professors, and especially at very large schools such as UCLA or UCB, you must make it a point to go to office hours.
