best major that doesn't include math

Hey everyone, just wondering what the best major is in business that does not require a lot of mathematics. I’m really interested in pursuing a business major, but I’m terrible at math. Thanks for the help

What colleges are you looking at? This will vary from program to program.

Most business programs have a core curriculum which require 2 semesters of math (including one of calculus) and 2 semesters of statistics.

I’d suggest you start your research by looking at the websites of colleges you are interested in and reading up on the required coursework for different majors.

I want answers too! I just recently decided on getting a bachelors in Business. Currently working on my AA, and there is no way around it…if you choose business there would be some math involved. As someone who is absolutely terrible at math, I say practice it as much as you can now. Make it a goal to master it. I personally think, I may not be as terrible as I think I am, it’s just I am a verrry slow math learner and have always avoid it so never improved, never got the proper help in primary or high school, I feared it so much that now I know less than what I should. Don’t let that take you away from studying business though. It will all depend on the courses/programs your college of interest offers… I’d say look into Business Administration/Business Management as opposed to finance and accounting… although, there will always be math there are certain business majors that are more math heavy than others like the ones mentioned. Good luck!

Accounting involves arithmetic, nothing more. If you cannot handle that you will have issues on the business world. A major on “business administration” or “management” is a generalist degree and will not prepare you well for the better paying jobs.

TomSrOfBoston,

I agree on business administration/management being a generalist degree and see why accounting would prepare one better because it’s more specific. But, wouldn’t an accounting degree direct you more towards accounting related jobs and working with finances, or is it that an accounting degree prepares you more dealing with finances and that’s better than learning general business terms? And what if you want to do something more broad and have different options that doesn’t deal with just numbers? (I’m asking this for myself as well and maybe it would help the original poster as well, feedback would be appreciated)

.

@Melodyx All business degrees require introductory courses in the functional fields: accounting, finance, marketing, human resources etc. In my opinion it would be better to choose some functional specialty that would direct you to an entry level job.

The specifc major I am focusing on for now is International Business, and I’m more interested in the communication aspect of business. Just wondering what majors are similar to international business, thanks for the replies!

Marketing, but that’s a terrible major.

Supply chain management!

International Business is only worth something if you have at least a minor in a foreign language and related cultures + preferably, studied abroad.
