Best Majors offered at UCR?

What are the best majors offered at UCR? I heard UCR is best in the science department? What about people who want to go into the law field?

Take a look at what UCR put up on their website: [About UCR: Ranks](http://www.ucr.edu/about/ranks.html)

About half of UCR students are enrolled in the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS). I can’t tell you too much about the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS) or Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE), but I do know that UCR is tops in entomology. I think we’re pretty good with biological sciences too. Then there’s the whole UCR-UCLA Haider Program.

We have a pretty solid arrangement of majors in CHASS, though we are definitely still growing. I would say the bulk of CHASS students’ majors are either Pre-business, Psychology or Sociology.

We have a great Philosophy department. The Film and Visual Culture has been a major for about two (?) years, but has its own department professors in addition to amazing professors from other departments. We also have some unique majors/minors: Comparative Ancient Civilizations; Southeast Asia: Texts, Rituals and Performance (SEATRiP); Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Studies; Marxist Studies.

We also have a bunch of majors that are paired with “Administrative Studies” or “Law and Society.”

Administrative Studies:

 • Art History Administrative Studies
 • Economics Administrative Studies
 • History Administrative Studies
 • Political Science Administrative Studies
 • Sociology Administrative Studies

Law and Society:

 • Anthropology Law and Society
 • Economics Law and Society
 • History Law and Society
 • Philosophy Law and Society
 • Political Science Law and Society
 • Psychology Law and Society
 • Sociology Law and Society

Lots of people joke that you could major in whatever you want and then go to law school. Not sure how seriously people should take that joke, haha.

Any Public Policy Majors

shesasensation: That’s not a joke, law school’s don’t care much about your undergraduate major.

Yea, basically you can major in anything and get into law school. The same thing applies to medical school. I know someone who got into medical school with a business major.

you need to take the pre-req’s for med school.

True, but I’m just trying to state that you can have any major and get into medical school.
