i just got my housing applications and was just wondering what is the character of each dorm. i heard guzman is loudest while fennel is quiet. besides that i dont have any suggestions

From friends at the college here is what I can decipher…Guzman is known as the loudest, Fennell is the quietest but also down on south campus which can be a pain unless your an arts major (nice quad in front). McDermott is somewhere in the middle but closest to the library if it gets to loud. St Joe’s has smaller rooms and between Guzman and Mcdermott for loudness and party dorms but does have a nicer lounge in it.

Maybe a current student online can help us out??

Happy to help guys…

Basically what you guys have heard is true. One thing to note however is that Fennell is made up of mostly semi-singles. I say “semi” because its 2 singles with a door in between the two rooms in addition to the door fomm the hallway. It is definitely the quietest and the farthest walk but nice being on the quad. Guzman is definitely the “party” dorm and racks up A LOT of fines. Personally I think St. Joes and McDermott are the best. They are both centrally located close to everything and are very social, you’ll get to know your floor very well. Rooms are mostly all triples but are definitely larger in McDermott.

For sophomore year, you can enter the suites or apartment lottery. Not every sophomore is guaranteed a suite/apt., I’m not sure how many are typically selected, I wasn’t :(. Juniors and seniors however are guaranteed to get an on campus apartment if they choose not to live off-campus.

I hope this was helpful, if you guys have any other questions feel free to message me. Good luck with everything!

Thanks mms999… I have a few other specific questions so I’m going to PM you.
