Hello everybody! I am currently a sophomore at California Lutheran University double majoring in Marketing Communications and Global Studies. My goal as of now is to eventually become a global marketing manager. I am interested in marketing as well as global cultures and languages (I am conversational in Mandarin and learning Italian at the moment), so I believe that this field is a good synthesis of the two.
I have multiple questions about this.
First, I have heard a graduate degree at a top school is needed for the best paying positions in this field. I am shooting for a salary of 100,000-200,000 because I intended on living in California and supporting a very large family. Is this the case? Or can I get this position with only a bachelor’s and enough experience?
Second, because I am planning on living in California, should I avoid schools outside of the state? It seems that it would be a waste to build up a network on the East Coast only to uproot again and move back to the West Coast.
Third, what are the best graduate programs for marketing in California, ideally with an emphasis on global marketing? Is an MBA indeed what I should be shooting for?
And lastly, what do I need to do to get into one of these top graduate programs?
Thank you very much!
