Best MCAT Prep for Self study

Hey guys,

So to begin with the online courses and courses at particular locations that are provided by test prep people are too costly for me.

I am planning on studying by myself for the MCAT like many people out there and am horribly confused on what material to buy. People have recommended EC, TBR, TPR, and Kaplan so far, but those are four freaking choices and I don't have any idea which is the best. I self study for pretty much everything and it's never been a problem even for graduate level classes that I am taking during my undergraduate.

Can please someone shed some light on it.

I know there are already too many topics on the best prep, but none of them provided appropriate answers. So, please tell what would you recommend someone and not any other vague details if that is possible.

Thank you so much for your time :D

When are you planning to take the MCAT? 2014? or 2015?

If are disciplined and know how to study by yourself, you may not need to take a prep course. You could simply go to the bookstore, purchase the prep books and study away, they are very straight forward.

I took the Kaplan prep course and I found it useful in that it remedied a lot of my fears of the “unknown”. We went over similar problems found on the actual MCAT in class with other students preparing to take the MCAT and we were able to discuss as a class and bounce testing habits, test-taking techniques off of each other and refresh each other on things we had forgotten. The course includes the Kaplan prep books and online materials which are extremely useful. My course was taught by a Neurobiology major from my school who had just applied (and had scored in the 90th percentile for the MCAT).
