What schools out there have the absolute best medical acceptance rate? Is it worth shelling out more dollars and working the extra mile in order to go to a great school with a high acceptance rate? Will a great GPA and high MCAT scores at a less prestigious college be enough, or does the college I choose to attend play a larger role in being accepted at a medical school. Thanks in advance to all who reply!

If you look at harvard's med acceptees there will be very few who did not attend a top 25 college.

Duke has around a 91% med school acceptance rate. I'm not sure if that is the best, but it is excellent. I believe HYPS probably have the best.

91% acceptance? No way. It was 7% last I checked.

I hope you are being sarcastic.

Oh, haha, sorry I misread the question. I was looking at the acceptance rate TO Duke's med school.

Haha ok. I figured it was that, but I was not sure. The thing is...Duke's med school acceptance rate is around 3.9%, hence my confusion

Any top school is going to have an excellent med school acceptance rate. A difference of a couple percentage points between harvard and say tufts is not going to make the slightest difference. Just do well wherever you go and you will get into med school.

Really? Hmm. My source says 7%. I think it might be last year's though.

I'm looking at USNEWS for '04.

The better the student body, the higher the acceptance rate. All the CC hype about which school is "better" for premed and whatnot is for the most part ******** - if money isn't an issue, go to the best school you get in to that you think is a good fit for you (e.g. don't pick Harvard over Dartmouth if you think you'll be miserable there). If it is, or you just want to save money for later, go to the school that's most affordable and you'll still do fine (within reason of course, attending a Tier 4 school wouldn't be a good idea).

ohnoes, there is a trend about what you're saying, and it's strong, but take a look at MIT and you'll see that this isn't always the case. Just ask sakky. I think the same is true about Caltech, too.

But yes, i agree with you.
