I have a bad habit of staring at other people's heads, at the clock, at the wall, basically anything but my SAT booklet. It's my second (and hopefully final) time this Saturday, so I need some home remedies for some better focus!!! Sipping Monster during break times seems to be a favorite, but I've never drank Monster before so I'm worried about side effects! Eek! Any favorites???

Don't take an energy drink during a test ever..

^ not true. worked just fine for me. Drank 2 red bulls during a break and made a 2250. :/

if you've never drank any of the hyper-caffeinated beverages before, don't. especially at a time like that. what will happen is that you will get a momentary high, which last about an hour, but you'll nose dive. plus, you'll keep having to go pee. it's not pretty.

I would suggest doing yoga, but if not, take a vitamin or eat a good breakfast. also involve yourself with the test.

thing about its value, that keeps me going.

@hookem, well I had two concentrated shots of an energy drink called upshot.
That and I slept 30 minutes the night before, LOL.

Don't do anything you haven't done before. You might have a negative effect, or, if you don't, you'll be distracted worrying that you'll have a negative effect. Both bad things.

i had red bull during an AP test and it did absolutely nothing for me

I just bought $17 worth of chocolate.
Guess what I'm eating during the break :]

pot or mushrooms. It works. I know some kids who did it and did excellent on the SAT's because they were so relaxed. that really is a big part of it.

Go exercize (a jog or something) before you start the exam.

Take a shower, too.

Uummm...eat a banana. Grapes.

No dairy, peoples!

why no dairy? Your saying you shouldnt drink things like milk?

Chocolate is good, definitely. Makes you energized AND happy!
Actually, I had chocolate-covered expresso beans, and they worked well for me, but had some in the middle during the break

I heard that chocolate actually makes people lose concentration during tests.

^Tell that to IvyChan who scored a perfect 2400, which was fueled by her consumption of chocolatey

dont do drugs, dont drink, dont die

(thats a nice alliteration!)

but seriously,
i usually eat a lot; candy stuff, and something else with a lot of carbs (like an energy bar)
and i drink a full water bottle....... that may not be good though because i usually have to go really badly lol

Red Bull has caffeine AND taurine. The latter is responsible for a placating feeling.

gum. definitely

yea its kinda weird, but whenever i eat chocolate my concentration wears off..instead of focusing on the SAT

@supereagle, pot makes you have to reread the questions over and over again. For math and science its probably okay but for anything else you'll probably bomb (not that I've done it, but I know people that have).
