Best Methods to Prep for SATs?

I want to try and take the SATs 2-3 times in my Junior and Senior years of high school, and at least have a score in the 2200-2400s. While we do have a SAT prep class in our school, its widely known as a "complete waste of time". I don't want to get a tutor that could cost hundreds of dollars so my last options are SAT books.

What SAT prep books did you use?
How long did it take you to work through them, or how long did you prep for the test?
Did SAT prep books actually help you?
What was your best score on the SAT if you only used prep books?

Thank you in advance!

The blue book from the college board is amazing and it uses real test material, so its realistic and very helpful to prep for the test. It took me around 6 weeks total to prep for the sat, but it was a really intensive period-- probably the equivalent of 2-3 months if you only do 1ish hour of practice a day :)
