Best Minors for Computer Science Degree

I am an incoming freshman majoring in Computer Science. I would like to minor, but I am looking for a minor that would go along with Comp Sci. I am interested in Math and I have Calculus III done already. I am also thinking about Statistics. I just want a minor that will help with grad school and make me better at computer science?

Minor in math. Probably take calculus IV, 2 calculus based stats courses, Discrete mathematics, advanced Linear Algebra for CS, game theory, maybe a logic class. Something like that.

There are many CS applications, and it will also make you a candidate for research positions.

Minor in something that you love at least like a lot. Even if it’s not related to CS, for example communication studies or marketing. If employers ask why minored in something that is not related to CS just tell them it’s what you like and what excites you. Enjoy your time in college because it really does GO BY FAST/IN A FLASH. College girls are the best =). Have fun!!!

If you’ve got the space in your schedule, take something that can broaden your skill set or that interests you. Having something a little bit different can be appealing sometimes to set you apart. If you’re really into math, then by all means go for it; that can be a useful skill set to expand on. But if you happen to really like creative writing, that’s also a totally valid minor to take. A minor isn’t going to be make-or-break for a job, career, or grad school, so I wouldn’t stress about it too much.
