The House of the Spirits = cyclical nature of fighting (never stops), conservatives vs. liberals, masculinity
Taming of the Shrew = character transformation: character foil between Katherine and her sister Bianca...

i made up my own story, my own title, my own explanations and I got 11.

I used The Fountainhead on a prompt dealing with helping others/ working for personal gain... the question seemed kind of tailored to Ayn Rand, and I had just written a much larger essay on the book -- I also wrote a lot more than I had during past essays (yeah, I know length isn't supposed to matter, but... I got an 11, so I reckon it helped).

Good luck.

Great List! Keep it coming!

Things fall apart: inability to adapt to the society, and colonization

I used Fahrenheit 451 by Bradbury and Sister Carrie by Theodore Dreiser on the essay today.

I used "Native Son" and "The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn."
I forgot the author of "Native Son" at first... I remembered that his first name was "Richard," but my mind kept on completing the name as "Richard Gere." Ha, ha. I remembered "Wright" at the last second.

Old Man and the Sea- pride, choice, and folly
