Best Nursing School in Indiana?

I am a high school senior that lives in Indiana and I am interested in majoring in nursing in college, but I don’t know how to compare the nursing schools between IU, IUPUI, Purdue, and Ball State. I have already been accepted to IU and IUPUI but I should hear back from the other two in the next month or so. I know that Ball State is supposed to have a really good nursing school but I don’t have any facts to back this up so if I could have some advice and other people’s opinions about this, that would be great. Thanks!

Purdue and IU are major research universities and have a more theoretical and research focus. The others are more practical and clinically focused. If you see yourself being involved in research, or are thinking about graduate study you should select one of those.

Many nurses become disenchanted with the hierarchical nature of the profession and pursue a graduate or professional degree in something else , e.g. public health, medicine (MD/DO), law, business, or an advanced nursing degree. Going to a research focused uni will help you establish credentials for graduate admission if you so choose.

Thanks for the reply! I think I have decided to go to Purdue. I felt much more at home there than I did at any of the other colleges I visited, and I think I will be happiest there overall. I am planning on becoming a nurse practitioner, so thanks for your advice in that area.

Purdue is the only one of your choices with a direct-admit program, so that was the right choice.
