Besides NYU and Columbia, what other schools in NYC are really good overall?

Well, overall I don't think any of these schools really compare to NYU & Columbia, but there's Fordham, St. John's, Queens College, Baruch, Pratt, Parsons, the New School, the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), and the City University of New York (CUNY). In some areas though, these schools are great. For example, FIT, Pratt and Parsons have good fashion design programs.

If you're a girl, you can apply to Barnard, which is really part of Columbia. Oh, there's Cooper Union, which actually is a very good school. I think students who are admitted get to go for free. (Am I right about that or am I totally making that up? It's 4am, and I need to go to bed.)

I think Yeshiva is also pretty good.

yes, globalist, cooper union is free, and an excellent school for engineering and art. Because it is free, and so good, it is VERY selective, but worth looking into if you are interested in it's programs.

Baruch is very good for undergraduate business and accounting. If you are into visual arts, Cooper Union, Pratt, Parsons and School of Visual Arts are top notch. I guess it depends on your major.

If you look at US News Rankings, granted the flaws within their evaluation process, there are four strong NYC schools...Columbia, Barnard, NYU and Fordham...those are the Tier 1 ranked schools in National categories. All four offer VERY DIFFERENT experiences...research each website to see which ones may be a fit. There are other solid schools in NYC but none have the same national reputation as those schools do today.
