Best of CC

I’d like to suggest a Best of CC thread to preserve posts that are particularly useful. For example, there are great posts about interview questions, about preparing for SAT/ACt (most of them by Xiggi). Patient and I think that a post from Rowan about an information session at Stanford was excellent.

I believe directing posters to existing posts on specific topics might reduce going over the same debates every so often. To get posts selected for the Best of CC would require recommendations from several posters.

good idea. i second the motion.

Kind of like a “Hall of Wisdom” with an index of topics-SAT Prep;Merit Aid- General;Merit aid-schools with; Need-only-general; Need only-school’s that are;NMSQT. Might work. I’ll vote yea.

“Best of” is good for useful or funny threads. I like that over “Hall of Wisdom” which implies too much value judgement.

Shouldn’t these things be covered in FAQs? “Frequently Asked Questions” - would not prevent people from starting a thread all over again but WOULD preserve best answers from the past…

Hi Marite, I second or third the motion. In order to be sure I didn’t lose it, I copied Rowan’s post and pasted it into word and have it stored on my laptop, and also kept a hard copy in my “college” folder for use in a couple of years. I sometimes print out other threads but don’t wind up keeping them, but that one I have. I hope she is having a good time, I “miss” her here.

they have those like “Special Discussions or Featured Discussions” at the top of the home page. i think thats similar to wat u are talking about

That’s the purpose of the featured discussions - each forum can have its own library of great discussions (the most recent two appear at the top of the forum).

Threads of general interest can also be featured on the home page, and will be saved in the home page library.

If you spot a great thread, send a PM to the forum mod or to me.
