how's rutgers (new brunswick) for pharmacy? and, what are some other great schools for it?

for dentistry and veterinary...can u major in anything u want (i.e. econ) and then go to grad school? or do grad schools prefer u to major in the "pre" programs?

yo dude i got 2 brothers in pharmacy school.
ones at wayne state university in michigan
ones at shenandoah university in virginia

the one at wayne hates the program because they have a really messed up fail policy where if you get below a 70 in a class, your held back a year and if you get below a 70 again, your kicked out of the program.

the one at shenandoah loves it. its in a nice area with nice people and a technically advanced pharmacy school. their fail policy is you can get below a 70 in a class 3 times before you have to repeat it in the summer.

wayne is all business and its relatively hard to get in to and also a better school. shenandoah cares more about the person and its relatively easy to get in to but its not as good as wayne in terms of rankings.

in my opinion, pharmacy isn't like law and it doesnt really make a difference where you go as long as its decent

im not sure about the other stuff but i hope this helps. check out my thread too

haha dude i wish i could.i know absolutely nothing about vet but my cousins went to dental at university of detroit mercy and boston university and werent too fond of either. udm is pretty good for dental and more about pharmacy(yay):

the brother that got into wayne also got into mass. college of pharmacy but didnt feel like paying out of state so he went to wayne and regrets it.he also got an interview at purdue but got turned down. he had a 3.6-3.7 in college at wayne undergrad and a 70ish in the PCAT

the one at shenandoah had a really low GPA(3.1 ish?) but i think around a 72 on his PCAT. he got an interview at U of Minnesota but got turned down

For dentistry & vet, no ... schools do NOT prefer "pre" programs. You can major in anything you want (including music!), as long as you take the necessary science prereqs. Many schools like unusual majors, because they want well-rounded students. Wherever you go, be sure to join the pre-professional club(s) for your interest. That way, you'll be able to find out what you need to do outside of class to have the best chance of getting into the program you want for professional school.

rutgers pharmacy is apparently pretty prestigious. I'm in it and if you have any specific questions about the program itself, you can PM me. Otherwise, some well known pharmacy schools with special programs

USC
UNC-Chapel Hill
UMichigan

These three are definitely in the top 5. Rutgers has the bonus of being in New Jersey, which as you know is the pharmaceuticals headquarters of the world.
