What is the best phone carrier in the San Diego/La Jolla area? Verizon? AT&T? Sprint? or T-mobile? I'm going to be a freshman at Revelle this coming fall, and i heard that T-mobile users there (or anywhere on campus) get no reception at all. Any good recommendations?
I am thinking about getting an iPhone or a Nokia smartphone...

Verizon and AT&T both have good coverage on campus. I wouldn’t chance any of the others. I personally had T-Mobile and wanted to rip my hair out every single day due to lack of service/dropped calls/failed texts, etc. Luckily my contract expired 2.5 months after I moved in :)

are u serious? T-Mobile isnt gonna work at all? bummer. :<

It works…it’s just horrible. >> I have T-mobile right now and had it my entire freshmen year. My contract won’t expire until a little while but failing to receive phone calls/texts/not getting 3G or edge coverage when I need it the most = total hell.

Yeah Kaiser Telecomm or T-Mobile or whatever that pink T company calls themselves now is not worth it unless you have a sidekick since they’re service goes down way too much. They’re being bought by Sprint, another ultimate call dropper. I use the iPhone now (iPhone 3G though, I ain’t rich lol), since I persuaded AT&T to give me a 15% discount off my monthly bill. You can do that easily at retailers, I personally did it at the Chula Vista Costco.

Thanks for the helpful answers!
