Best Phone Case for IPhone 6s

I have had the phone since 1/2016 and like it. Sadly, I’ve cracked and replaced the screen twice (never cracked any of the prior screens on any of my other phones over the 20-ish years). Any suggested phone cases you love? I have a simple bumper case now that isn’t protective at all and looking to buy something from Amazon or BestBuy before we head to Glacier or later Yosemite. Will be using phone for taking photos on those trips.

I’d like something that is fairly slim but a bit protective for falls. Both times I cracked the screen in the past year, dropped phone face down on concrete from about 4 feet. :frowning:

For the last few years, I’ve sworn by the Speck cases. They don’t add much size (that’s what I don’t like about Otterboxes), but protect from drops very well. Just yesterday, I dropped mine screen-down in a concrete parking lot; no issues at all. (There’s a surrounding lip of about a quarter inch; the screen never touched the ground.) I drop things a lot these days. :">

Thanks–Speck seems to make quite a variety of cases. Any particular one or type you recommend over others?

I won’t let my D19 out of the house without her uncool LifeProof iPhone case.

I’ve had the same positive experience with Speck as poblob14. Got a good deal on Best Buy online, but that was over 2 years ago. Speck.com offers deals sometimes too. All 4 iPhones in our house have a speck case. Highly recommend

How do you folks choose among models of cases. For each brand there seem to be tons of different models of cases.

I use the Candyshell, just based on feel at the store; seemed like the best balance between price and protection.

And, just as important to me as it is to Bruce Wayne: it comes in black.

I need something that is more visible than black so I can see it to find it. Thanks for these great ideas. May head to BestBuy today and get a case.  :-"

Anyone try a case with a built-in battery pack? How was that?

I love this clear case.

If you are an occasional phone dropper and feel it would be smarter to get a case with a little more protection, but still want a thin, minimalist case similar to a bumper, this is great IMO. The thicker, bulbous-like corners help protect the corners, face, and back in the event of a drop, but they don’t add bulk to the overall design. I also like the ridges on the sides for added grip.

The only problem with these clear cases is that they ALL eventually yellow after being exposed to sun and sweat from your hands. I start noticing it after about 6 to 9 months, but I tend to hold the phone a lot when I have the headphones on while walking in the city or hitting nearby hiking trails. (YMMV) Still, I liked it so much and it’s so inexpensive on Amazon that I ordered 4 more at once to keep in stock and just swap them out when one starts to yellow.

Here’s something else I ordered to hold my cell phone after seeing someone with one and love, love, love it. It’s one of the most useful purchases I’ve ever made on Amazon and think you might find it useful for Yosemite.

I use it to hold my cell phone securely at the gym or when hiking/running, but it’s also great for holding a wallet, keys, and the larger pocket will even stretch around a small (thinner) 16 oz. water bottle.

It is made of a very stretchy, thin, but durable material with a stretch waistband that adjusts and holds it securely around your waist so that it doesn’t move AT ALL even when hiking or exercising (including running), and is so comfortable I don’t even know I have it on. It’s also great if you’re in a crowded environment and worried about pickpockets because it holds things tightly against your body with no visible bulk, so no one would even know you have it on if you have a shirttail out hanging over it. I’ve often thought that if I ever get mugged, my pockets would be empty and the mugger would never know my wallet and phone were around my waist.

I actually ordered the non-pro version before they came out with this pro version, but just noticed it seems to have disappeared along with my review, and it looks like all their products are on clearance including this one, so I’m guessing the company is shutting down. There are other brands out there with similar products, but this was the only one I found where the larger pocket was big enough to stretch around a water bottle, so I may have to order a couple more before they’re gone, especially at this price.

I’ve had one, but it was too heavy and bulky for me, so I ordered one of these. It’s small, light in weight, and can charge my iPhone 6 a couple of times. It comes with a little bag to hold it in that’s big enough for me to stuff a charging cord into – and easily fits in the running belt I have a link to above.

Speck also sells a clear case. I have one on my phone as we speak. I’ve dropped it several times in the driveway, and on concrete surfaces. It’s a great case…

Thanks–may get a case today by going down to our local BestBuy and buying something that they have in stock.

I am an Otterbox faithful. I drop my phone a lot and never have a problem. I like the Otterbox Commuter which really protects without being bulky at all. (The Symmetry is a tad sleeker.) I had the Defender but that was too big. I think you could run over the Defender in your car and it would be fine but no fun to carry. Commuter is good size and they are super affordable, on Amazon Prime in lots of colors.

I have always used Speck cases and a screen protector. I drop my phone often- so far so good! Otterbox and Lifeproof cases are great.

Lifeproof.

It’s compact, not bulky, and waterproof.

Yes, the newer Otterboxes are slimmer than the old defender, which was a tank.

I’ve had both Otterbox, and Lifeproof. I will never go back to Otterbox. Even the new otterbox are bulky when compared to the Lifeproof cases.

I have the Apple battery case for my iPhone 6 and love it. It is a little bulky, but it’s worth it for the battery. I am a heavy user (work and personal).

@HImom I swear by the Apple battery case. I get twice the battery life. I’ve also dropped my phone a million times and have lived to talk another day. It’s more slim lined and not heavy (versus the Mophie which I have also used).

Regarding a screen protector, I purchased the ZAGG one, which has a lifetime warranty. I have dropped my phone and cracked three, count 'em, THREE, ZAGG screen protectors and each one was replaced free, I just had to pay shipping.

That being said, I can’t rightfully recommend ZAGG screen protector, because while my actual screen was saved every time, I don’t think the screen protectors should have cracked. I don’t know if it exists, but I would like a non breakable, indestructible screen protector.
