I don't really have people around me to edit or help in meaningful ways, so I was wondering where else I could turn to. Does anybody else have experience using CC? The only thing I'm worried about is obviously fraud.

You can ask on here who’d be willing to read your essays. I’ve read quite a few and I’d be happy to help in any way I can. However, I would be cautious who I send it to. For instance, longtime users, parents, or people who already graduated high school (you can tell by looking at some of the history of their posts) are generally pretty reliable. What I wouldn’t do is send it to a completely new user whose only posts so far have been offering to read essays. There’s one that’s been running around lately that’s been making me a bit suspicious…

Edit: Oh and always PM the essays, never post the actual thing. There’s an anti-plagiarism tool recently installed on common app, but it never hurts to be careful

Do you have any recommendations as to who are some good critics on here?

I always see you posting on here and I suspected you would reply to this thread first. I will certainly trust my essays with you :)

Really? I am honored to be recognized, even more to be expected haha. There was a thread in a college essay thread about people who are willing to read essays. Some of it might be a bit outdated, but you could check if the person is still active and after doing a quick background check you could send it to them!

Yes, you are becoming a bit of a legend. I think I’ll be finishing my common app rough rough rough rough rough rough draft in the coming days so can I just directly pm you when it is finished?

Yes of course! In the future, it might be best to tag me (or anyone else for that matter) when responding because I don’t always check back for responses, but I happened to this time :)

@shawnspencer I usually do actually, but today I was feeling lazy ;)

I would also get my English teacher to read it once school begins.
