I decided I want to live in an apartment. But where is the best place to live? I want value (you get a lot for a little), and somewhere close by. I do own a car and motorcycle, so distance isn't too much of a concern for me. I've been told Richmond is the best bang for your buck and it's pretty close. Someone suggested El Cerrito, but the area seems a little bit run down. TIA

maybe try renting a room? I think mine can’t be beat, $500, north berkeley, 5 min bus ride to campus…

I’ve lived with people for too long now. I want my own privacy. But do they have apartments in north berkeley for cheap? how’s the area?

There are apartments above Noah’s bagels but the people at the front look like homeless, low-class people. They’re kind of scary actually. But if you don’t mind that, the apartments aren’t too shabby and they’re like $500.

o0racle: Where exactly in north Berkeley?

near solano ave

Studios on Shattuck-ish for 900 bucks a month.

^^ that’s a ripoff!

^Roommate can split the rent, lol.

Yeah…not much of a ripoff if you have roommates.

where do you find these places at? craigslist?

craigslist would be a good bet. and you don’t want to share a studio. you literally have no space once you put in a bed/couch/desk for most of the ones around here. I’d really suggest you get a roommate and find a place where you can shut the door and get privacy that way. I mean you can find a place to live by yourself, but you’ll more than likely get ripped off. Seeing as you do have transportation though, my friend lives in El Cerrito and he says it’s not that bad…
