Best Places to Live for an ILR Student?

Hey, I'm an incoming transfer for ILR. I do not want to live in the transfer dorms.

I'm looking into West Campus. What are the best dorms for west? In terms of social life? Facilities? Are there any newly renovated buildings? Please help! Thanks!

There isn't a specific transfer center to live in. I think transfers are either on West Campus or in Hasbrouck Apts. West Campus would definately be better. That's where mostly sophmores, some juniors and seniors live. Whereas hasbrouck is a quieter, graduate housing complex on north campus (farther from classes than west). There are three newly built dorms on West: Hans Bethe House, Becker House, and Cook House. If you live there you have an in-house dining hall. Also on West is a newly built community center. And some older dorms referred to as the "Gothics." ...i don't know if you get to choose but definately try for one of the houses on west campus.

I’m also a transfer and I applied to Cook, Bethe and Becker…but will they for sure place me in one of those houses or do they decide at the end? I mean do ppl most often end up with what they requested?

Are you guys GT's?

I'm a GT....

heres a better question: when are we getting decisions?

uhh...you shouldve gotten it by now lol

the best place by far is the transfer center. There'll be many other ILR trasnfers and its the easiest place to make friends.

Housing in the other places on west is probably all taken up.

so if it's all taken up and i just applied for those three on west...then I’ll be most likely placed in the transfer center or some other random place? how do they decide?

Forever, are you a GT? because i havent heard of any real transfers who have heard yet.

first of all, there is NO MORE TRANSFER CENTER. The Transfer Center (known as the Class of 1917 Hall building) currently on West Campus is being torn down this summer. Next fall, transfer students will be placed together in the Hasbrok Apartments on North Campus OR on a specific floor in either Hans Bethe, Becker, or Cook on West Campus. Transfer will be together so don't worry about that. Most transfer however will be in Hasbrock on North. However, if you want to live in Bethe, Cook, or Becker on West then you will be closer to ILR (Ives Hall).

I am an external transfer (I am not a GT and I am currently at NYU) and I heard back from Cornell last week. One of the things I don't like about my current school is the lack of a real "college" feel, part of it probably because im in an apartment dorm. I'd rather live in a corridor style, so I hope I can get on west!

You're not an ILR external though. Stop scaring us!!!

Transfer Center = Transfer Student Program ???

yep! and it's in Hasbrouck, if you look on the map it is incredibly far lol...even so, i like the idea of the program, but i applied for a dorm on west...

ah cavs i'm sorry!

just to clarify to everyone, i am a CALS transfer.

hey dancergrl92 i transfered to cornell from NYU last year.
