Best Places to Study that are safe

What are the best places to study that are safe from thieves and are very quiet? Also, the closer it is to Jester, the better because that is where I live. I heard that there are many thieves in the PCL so I am scared of studying there. The Jester West study lounge is quiet but too many people are in there and its too cold for me.

Just go to PCL and don’t leave stuff sitting around. Nobody is going to steal your laptop while you are typing on it.

LOL, Why Two Kay, I definitely agree. NOWHERE on campus–or anywhere–is safe if you’re planning to leave your stuff lying around. Except in your dorm room, of course.

One tip if you do want to leave your stuff lying around is to make sure there are lots of people nearby, because there’s less of a chance someone will steal out in the open where they will be caught. So, in other words, second floor of PCL (the floor you enter PCL at). You can also bring some friends along for mutual silent study sessions…and they can watch your stuff without any problems. Good luck!

NO. NEVER LEAVE YOUR STUFF. No matter how many people. Don’t do it. Like seriously. Don’t.

The only people I would trust with my stuff are my friends.

Just bring around some trash with you wherever you go and when you feel the need to suddenly abandon all of your valuables, just cover it with trash and nobody will be interested in it.

Won’t a laptop lock help?

Just don’t leave your stuff unattended. Period. What’s so hard about closing your laptop, putting it in your bag and taking it with you?

Back to study places: the Union, third floor is a great place to study. I think it’s quite safe, too. People sleep on those couches and don’t get their stuff stolen, especially if there are a lot of people around. If you like to study outside, there is a balcony on the 3rd floor as well. The FAC is good for studying. The library in the Tower’s library is another great place.
If you’re a business student, take advantage of the Reliant Productivity Room and the Reading Room.
Don’t forget about the study room on your floor! If it’s full, try another one on a different floor.

Jester West lobby is pretty warm, where the tables and sofa/couches are…

oh yea but they almost always have people studying there

The only things that I dislike about 3rd floor Union as a good place to study is:

If there is an event that night/afternoon in that ballroom next to that little study space they will kick you out of that area. Also sometimes when they are setting up for an event it gets really loud.

There is usually not a place to sit because people use two chairs to sleep.

Multiple times I have gone there people have held loud ‘group study’ so it was impossible to concentrate.

The light is HORRIBLE when it’s dark outside or at night.

When people walk through they don’t bother being quiet.

It is not a designated study space therefore people don’t have to be quiet, like in a library.

It’s so easy to steal someone’s stuff if they are sleeping. xD

I think the best things are the chairs and the fact that there aren’t many outlets so I can’t procrastinate with my laptop. But I never go there for any hardcore studying.

I get the most done at PCL on the 3rd floor in this little secluded section near some windows.
