Best Plan for an MIS Degree

Hello,

I'm currently a senior in High School and so far I'm planning on majoring in Management Information Systems at McCombs Scool of Business, however I'm trying to form a nice back up plan in case that does not work out. I would more than likely be doing an external transfer from a community college.

So my second choice is UT San Antonio's Information Systems business program. Does anyone know if UTSA's IS program would make a good enough alternative or back up plan to UT Austins MIS program, in terms of the strength of its program as well as future employment and salary potential?

Mays school of Business at A&M is a very strong Business school did you apply there?

Hey, I’m not sure where in Texas you are located but I live in Plano and have heard great things about UTD’s program. My friend’s dad is a software engineer and has his own company, and says they have a great computer science/IS program and his son is going to be going there.

I had originally planned on going for MIS but am now leaning toward A&M because the business side is better plus they have supposedly a good computer science program as well. Plus I would think A&M has a better network and hire-rate than UTD but McCombs is a very good and very competitive business school. I did my two years a community college and I will either go to A&M or UTD in the fall. I just personally don’t care for the school UT itself, the area and congestion in Austin/UT is just not for me but they have the best business school in Texas.
