LoL.
Honestly,
who cares.

^^^^^^ Thank you for your useful contribution. Obviously some people care, or else this thread would be dead from the get-go.

Ok, would you really turn down a school to go to another one, because it is, let's say, ranked 2 spots lower than some other school in the field you want to study

To answer your question... no, I wouldn't. The exact rankings are unimportant, but it is helpful to have an idea of which schools are strong in your field of interest, to develop a list of targets.

2 Spots? No. 25? Yes. There are bands in these rankings. Foreign Policy did a survey of thousands of IT-practitioners and asked which were best for learning IR in undergrad. There were nine schools who has quite a few responses, then a huge drop (from 19% to 7% or something similar) for schools afterwards. That is what is important. Any of those top schools will be great for PoliSci. And to the comments of asking professors for their agendas and such - keep in mind that most of your undergrad classes will be in other departments. This advice is helpful, although would be far better point for graduate admissions than undergrad.

columbia. Georgetown is best for international relations with europe imho.
Umm, usnews doesnt say umich. they dont rank poli sci undergrad. and for grad they rate specifics.

The best programs for undergrad i would say are HYPS, Columbia, UCLA,UCB,UMICH, and some others

Don't be concerned about rankings for undergraduate political science programs. If you did want to get a PhD, then you do want to go to a highly respected program with professors with expertise in the specific areas you want to study.
