Best Pre-med school?

What do you think is the best undergraduate institution to attend for pre-medicine?

Wustl ------

bump...bump...bump...bump...

jhu...duke..columbia

i don't know...isn't UCSD very very good? is pre-med a ticket into med school? and what are some good med schools?

all of of the above institutions are very good for med school

UCSD is very good but not necessarily a ticket to a med school.

isnt UCSD harder to get into med school, cause of the harsh grading polices?

Harvard, Dartmouth, Johns Hopkins if you can survive the cutthroat atmosphere...

UCSD isn't harsh as in, berkeley harsh. but none of the UC's will give you inflated grades, so you're going to have to earn them.

the argument for some is that berkeley and UCLA are too competitive for pre-meds, so going to UCSD will give you a better chance to stand out in a less competitive environment. UCSD also offers great research opportunities.

Penn!!!------

ChrisCuber's right... The cutthroat atmosphere and weeding out of pre-meds make Harvard, Duke, JHU, WUStL, etc. not necessarily the best choices. For example, at WUStL, 75% of their biology majors are pre-med!

Davidson College is excellent for pre-med.

What about Mcgill?

ucsd (one of the top programs in biological sciences; has one of the highest admit rate into med school among ucs...so i've heard)
wellesley (has one of the highest admit rate into med school)

what happens if you don't get into med school? do you have to mope around or change majors?

UCSD has a surprisingly low medical school placement rate; it hovers around 50%.

http://career.ucsd.edu/sa/pmedhis.shtml#UGATMS

Hopkins and Harvard have about a 90% placement rate.

any school that has a great reputation but has somewhat inflated grades...like schools in the Ivy League, Stanford, Duke etc can help you

Williams and Swarthmore are slightly smaller schools with good pre-med rates too

I would look into Emory, Northwestern, Johns Hopkins.

warbersrule86: two words-grade inflation!

I'm sure the UCSD kids are probably well-prepared, atleast
