I just hunted down Allegheny’s stats. They say in the last 10 years they’ve had 185 students accepted into med school and their student population is around 1900. Entrance 50% ranges in the 500-630 range (each part of the SAT) with 10% getting scores above 700 in reading, only 6% in math.
Here’s their Top 10 for med school admissions since 1988:

Temple
UVt
Hershey
Thomas Jefferson
SUNY Buffalo
Pitt
MCP Hanhemann
Rochester
Mayo
Case Western
Doesn’t seem like a shabby list to me, but I might ask for a list for those admitted since 2006 (last 10 years) if I were inquiring - just to make sure the list is similar.
I wonder how many admitted don’t pass the exams. No clue - pure curiosity.
^^
Good question. I doubt that LECOM is publishing the data that follows those particular admits.
I have heard this…UAB Med admits a few students whose stats are more modest than the typical applicant because those students have participated in the 5 year Rural Medicine Program (premed) as undergrads. To qualify, they must be from a rural area and must promise to practice there or small town for at least X years. These applicants do have to take the MCAT, but they only have to attain a modest score.
From what I understand, these are the students that need more help in med school. They are the ones who are more likely going to need to repeat a year or withdraw. I haven’t directly heard that they are the ones who are more likely going to fail Step 1, but…
Cost is not a concern for me. However, grade inflation is. What schools have high grade inflation and good bio programs.
What are your stats? In one post you mention problems with grades.
